Meshes of the RTA

Despite sustained local protest, in 2010 the NSW government proceeded to duplicate Sydney's Iron Cove Bridge. The RTA's Rozelle construction site was clad in shade-cloth printed with seamless contemporary landscape photographs of King George Park – real vistas about to be lopped and cropped for cars.

From 1932-89 the DMR (NSW Department of Main Roads) was responsible for the state’s road and bridge construction. In 1989 an amalgamated DMR became the RTA (Roads and Traffic Authority). In 2011 the RTA was amalgamated with NSW Maritime to become the RMS (Roads and Maritime Services).
